The Independent Study and Mentorship Program (ISM) allows students to independently explore a topic of their choice, researching articles, conducting interviews, and gaining hands-on experience in a professional environment. This year, I've chosen Applied/Engineering Physics, with a particular interest in Quantum Physics, as my topic of study. This subject entails the usage of quantum theory in developing products and software, such as quantum computers and simulation, toward the effort of gaining a deeper understanding of quantum phenomena, as well as bettering society through creation of more capable machines based on exploitation of said phenomena.
